Hi Friends, My fit gp1 (2012) display shows average fuel consumption as 12km/l. Is this satisfactory ? If its a issue how to fix it? I used the car within colombo and done kandy-colombo twice.

  • chaminda1975  commented on  12/2/15 6:32am

Dear Friend, Have you experience abnormal IMA battery charging pattern such as draining battery to lowest level and then charging to maximum, draining it suddenly while climbing hills, stops at heavy traffic, etc., check your car 12v Battery terminals. Loose and carbon deposited terminal connections could show any of above symptoms. Remedy is so simple; clean them and reconnect after 10 minutes. Make sure you have backup SD card for your navigation system, otherwise internal memory looses and an error message will appear on display. Also while keeping terminals disconnected turn ignition key to start the car to drain any residual charge remaining in the system.
    Thanks.

Honda FIT GP1 HYBRID 2011 knocks or bucks bucks when starting from a stop position. Does not do it all the time. Had it in to the dealer – they updated computer and put in a new battery. Still bucks. after a long break if i drive, the first few minutes it goes smooth and then it bucks again. this happens only when starting from a stop position. (sometimes at speed 60 – 80 i feel vehicle is going on low gear 1 or 2, this happens randomly)

Any ideas on the problem? Is only has 56000 KM

Got the engine tune up done from Hybrid Motors SL. (June 2015)
As they told changed the Air Filter and Spark Plugs. (June 2015)
After that they told something is wrong with the gear box, so need to fix it or may need to change the gear box which will cost nearly 2 lacks.

(ATF) Gear Box oil changed at a local shop.
Fuel pump & filter changed at a local shop.
EGR valve is changed. second hand part was used as new is very expensive. but got a carbon zero almost new EGR Valve.

Then took it to company Stafford share,
Got the engine tune up done from Stafford share (Yesterday July 15 2015) because company told hybrid motors are not doing engine tune up properly.
Still the bucking or knocking comes when starting from a stop point and company is asking to change the EGR valve for no reason and they say 100% sure it will fix the problem as this is a common issue for GP1 models. (i dont know who to trust anymore and spend money)

confused and I need an experts advise. any advise is greatly appreciated.

The method of setting time in GP5 differs if you have an Honda Internavi AV system in your car. Could you please upload a photo of your AV system with the password screen to this forum, i can gather some additional information by looking at it before replying.

And a kind reminder, please leave your comments under the relevent category as mentioned by admin.

    Pioneer AVH-X8650BT & Android AppMode

Just to let you know that above Head Unit works with Sansung Note 3 with a MHL adapter cable in AppMode.

What this means is that for compatible apps, you can control the phone touch screen using the Head Unit’s screen.

Currently the useful app that I found was the Maps application (which uses Google Maps).

So if you own this HU and an Android Phone which supports MHL adapter, you can get Google Maps working on your HU screen. Probably Note 4 and S5 should work.

  • Umesha Danjaya  commented on  2/21/15 12:12am

Honda Fit GP5 – According to the Honda Recall site i had to update my ignition plug top coils and noise filter as latest recall update. Stafford has replaced my ignition plug top coils, But not noise filter because of its unavailability of sri lanka at the time. they asked to wait and wiil inform me after noise filter available.
But now i ve rechecked my chassis number again at Honda recall site, now it shows my veheicle is no need of latest recall update.

Cant understand what is going on….??????????

Seems like the last Recall 3457 http://www.honda.co.jp/recall/141023_3457.html
is not mention in here a allthough it’s done October 23, 2014

Even my one manufactured in November 2014, Recall 3391 & 3457 stickers pasted and wonder why.

  • killer_cruise  commented on  1/26/15 6:05pm

I contacted stafford today, they said that site not accurate. If you provide you chasis number to stafford, they will check with Honda japan and confirm you.

  • BG  commented on  1/28/15 7:11pm

May be they released it to the market in November. And while releasing they did the upgrade and paste the stickers.

  • MRF  commented on  1/31/15 3:50pm

If the stickers are pasted it is an indication that improvements needed for your Vezel had been done.

This is the chassis number range for recalled vehicles:
    RU3-1000045 ~ RU3-1056696
    (December 5, 2013 – October 17, 2014)

If the chassis number of your Vezel is within the numbers listed here and if the stickers had been pasted, there is no need to worry about this.

By the way how do you know in which month your vehicle was manufactured?

1/ What does this keyles entry system can do ? please share with me if there is any manual available as to how to use this ?

As bought it as second user, i didnt get the remote and its been lost.

2/ I also noticed a small change in ignition switch. This is how it looked and it makes me to put the key and turn it on every time,

    http://s4.postimg.org/g2ld9sfnx/nissan_evalia_10_1.jpgkey less entry

i feel like originally it was not asking a key and had a ignition knob to turn to start the car. How can i get it fixed and how does it work without a key or does it have a programmed key beneth the knob part?

  • Dams  commented on  1/12/15 10:20pm

Hello Honda users, I am going to buy a Honda gp5 L grade 2014 one. first think you for your informations here it was really valuable. But I am little bit worried because up to now there were 5 recalls and will there be more recalls in future(hopefully not to)?
And what is the difference between auctioned one with one which has been bought and imported from the company, because some says those vehicles are not auctioned one but imported from the company,
But how can we rely on their statements. How can we confirm such statement?
How can we know whether the car is accident free one?
Is there any system to know the correct history of the vehicle and the true condition of the vehicle?
and honda gp5 comparing to Toyota Aqua what is the overall best car?( Hopping your honest answer)
Please I need you expert and experienced answers in this situation.
    THANKS

Take it to the agents & get it fully checked before you buy it. It has better interior space than Aqua. Better battery too. i have done over 5000k on mine. No problems. its a pleasure to drive. I take my MTB bike in side the car. Just put it to S mode & you can fly. Worst I have got fuel in traffic is 15K per liter.

My Honda Vezel User’s manual recommends 0w-20 (API SN, ILSAC G5) engine oil. Is it ok to use Valvoline SynPower 0W – 30 (API SL) .

  • NalinJ  commented on  1/9/15 6:35pm

Hi Pubudu, 0W-30 is ok. You can also use 5W-30 from Mobil. But you can find 0W-20 from Caltex. They have Havoilne Eco 5, a full synthetic oil and 4l can is around 4200. Currently I use Havoline Eco 5 for my FIT GP1 and it gives a good fuel economy. Before this I used Mobil 5W-30 (around 7800/= for 4l can) it also gave the same fuel economy

  • Nalin Jayarathna  commented on  1/12/15 1:11pm

with Havoline eco 5 what is the oil change interval(km)

  • NalinJ  commented on  1/23/15 11:02am

Not sure, the sales guy and service station did not give a confident answer. I will keep monitoring the oil after 5000k to check whether how it degrades. I think I can run 6500-7000 kms from it. Currently I have driven around 4000 km using Eco 5, the oil color is still ok. Let you guys know how it works after 5000 km

  • Vezel Owner  commented on  1/23/15 9:12pm

Stafford Motors use Havolene Eco5, a SAE 0W-20 oil.

Your audio setup need a separate power supply when you disconnect the main battery. Otherwise it will get lock after 8 seconds. Most of the Japanese original audio setup doesn’t have the original serial no or DVD /SD card to unlock the setup. So better check with advance car audio or petco lanka. May be you have a little chance to unlock your setup with there DVD or SD for 2000 – 5000 rs.

It’s fuel consumption around 16 to 17 km/l, I have done 1000km now, most of the time travel through A9 road to Anuradhapura 50km/day, no traffic at all. Is this normal anyone advice me regarding ma current problem, I thought it would done around 25km/l since I’m using a traffic free road

  • killer_cruise  commented on  12/10/14 10:00am

Dear Segr, The one that displays the fuel consumption rate is the overall rate for all the trips you have done in the car. To get the fuel consumption rate for the current trip you should reset one of the trips ie- trip A or trip b before starting a trip(place you want to got to). When you do that the computer will display your current fuel consumption rate (your true mileage for the current trip).
hope this helps, dont forget to post back the results.

  • Chathu  commented on  12/18/14 10:53am

Dear Srgdr, i got GP5 s grade and im traveling in colombo mostly. in heavy trafics fuel is about 14-15l/km but in normal traffic it rises to17-19 l/km. in a traffic free road like u said urs have to be bit higher than that. may be its your driving style. one time i went to deniyaya via highway and it was averaged to 21. during the highway part i was cruised at 100 and consumption was exactly 24.1 for the period.but it got higher at speeds abt 70-80 and achieved 25 l/km. so try changing your driving style. less and slow breaking is the key.

  • KaliBuwa  commented on  12/23/14 4:38pm

Whats your normal cruising speed? If you go at higher speeds it consumes more fuel as the engine needs to rev hard. Even on Prius’s or Aqua’s fuel efficiently drops if you cruise at speeds over 70kmpl normally.

Hi Enaizar, If you are talking about the display of the car. Then you cannot change the language from Japanese to English. Since we all use Japanese domestic versions, display does not support the language selection option. However considering that you are using a GP1. There is an English manual of it in the header section GP1 tab in this site. You can use that as a guidance to change the settings.

I bought a fit GP5 2013 recently. Buy I’m not happy with the fuel efficiency even though the driving experience is great. It does only 15km/l on my daily ride from battaramulla koswatta to colombo 3.
Is this normal? If you have done something to improve the fuel efficiency please let me know.

I got a replacement brand new set of side mirrors but after fixing also didnt ac didnt work and the lights , the retract, mirror position changing switch are also not working. Can you tell me if any fuse issue or some other issue.

    Appreciate your comments

  • Patrick  commented on  11/18/14 12:42am

you need to check the fuses. the fuse must have been blown off when the mirrors were taking out

  • Aslam  commented on  12/19/14 9:37am

Hi Aravind, My Honda GP1’s both side mirrors were also broken and removed by druggies.. I got it fixed and I had the same problem that the AC and Retractalble mirrors wasn’t working. I found out This is to do with burned Fuse. You need to get exactly the same fuse (there is a number mentioned on the fuse, like 7.5 or 10) and fix it and it will work. What happened to me is I got the same fuse and got the AC / RM working but now the “Auto stop” is not working bcoz of some incompatibility of the fuse that I have put in.

  • amal  commented on  11/8/14 7:14pm

Hi my gp1 engine autostop function not working. how to fix this

  • regi  commented on  11/10/14 8:08am

    Hi Amal,
Just to get more clarity on your question
    1. Are you driving on ‘D’ with Eco on?
This will be the mode that will invoke ‘Auto Stop’.

    2. What will be the normal A/C temperature you used in the car?
If you are driving on low temperatures like below 22c there is a high chance that A/C will be constantly working under the weather these day. If the car engine constantly need to run to keep the inside A/C, ‘Auto Stop’ does not work.

If you are doing everything correctly and it still does not work better to take the car to the Agents.

  • ruwindu  commented on  11/10/14 12:40pm

If I were you I am happy with this situation because the auto stop makes AC to stop and only blower works and also makes the car come backwards. So with this function, saving few rupees on fuel is not worth for me.

IMA in honda fit shuttke shows hmmf indicator.
It is start today. So few questions:
    1) how many km i can still run?
    2) what oil i must use?
    3) how much usual service cost?

Man from car rent told me, that is not a problem and i can still drive 1000km. Is it true?

  • regi  commented on  11/8/14 1:27pm

Hi Stad, If the indicator is up that means the time to service but obviously there is buffer time added by the manufacturer so you can drive a bit more. But this is not advisable.

Stafford motors user Havloline Eco 5(5300/=) and some others use Mobile 5w30 (8700/=).

  • RD  commented on  11/10/14 11:25am

What you have mentioned are engine oils.
HMMF indicator comes for CVT fluid change. Immediately get the fluid change done. Do not run 1000km with this indicator on. Only use Honda genuine CVT fluid (check service manual).

I would like to know about the condition of Vezel from a person(s) who is now using vezel(s). This is first time I bought a Honda vehicle.

  • Nuwan  commented on  10/28/14 4:41pm

Go get your vehicle registered. Don’t worry about recalls. Its quite usual thing for a brand-new vehicle. Earlier we didn’t have internet and other intelligent communication mediums like today we have. Still our grand parents bought vehicles and ran without problems. There has been so many recalls in past few decades if you google you can find.
Replacement of Plug top ignition coils and the fixing of noise filter is simple task which can be done within 1-2 hours as per my knowledge. Vezel is one of the best SUV is made for Japanese domestic market manufactured recently and they wont let that model down. Please be patient like others. I believe even without modification your vehicle will be fine in your hands.

    Hi guys,
To all who are planning to buy a hybrid
FYI-The new tax percentage for hybrid vehicles stand at 57.5% of the CIF value under the 2015 budget

  • Regi  commented on  10/27/14 7:59am

Just to add more clarity for those who are waiting to import. CIF Value (Cost insurance and freight value) ideally should depicts the real vehicle value. This is calculated with the vehicle current price and with the options for the vehicle. CIF value is value where your vehicle is insured for when you are importing the vehicle as well.
Only thing is that when the vehicles come to customs they will get a quote from authorized assessor in Sri Lanka for its CIF value. Then CIF value in your BL(Bill of lading) and CIF value obtained from authorized assessor get compared and you are taxed according to the highest CIF.

  • RD  commented on  10/26/14 4:51pm

14kmpl within city traffic sounds normal. I would advise you not to add anything to the oil that are not manufacture recommended. Always use Honda genuine oils and whats recommended in the service manual. Nothing more, nothing less.

  • Prabath  commented on  10/24/14 11:24pm

Unless you can risk 5 m don’t buy a Vezel. Only god know what problems will come in future as there are defects brand new. Definitely, there will not be a second hand market. (call and check the price of the battery from the agent) I guess after 3-4 years the second hand market would be around 3.5 m.

  • Ranfer  commented on  10/25/14 11:22am

If it is a brand new car you have to expect recalls. If you do not like recalls, then you have to go for a used, second hand old model car. Face the reality.

There had been many recalls of Toyota models and BMWs too.
Google Toyota Recalls and see for yourself.

Sorry, if I am sounded like being rude, but this is the reality.

  • Prabath  commented on  10/27/14 8:30am

I hope you are not living in Sri Lanka, please look this from Sri Lankan serpective. How many Toyotas /Nissans/BMWs came to SL brand new were recalled and costumers had to go this type of a problem during last 10 years. Friend please have a look at statistics before making public comments. Call agent (Honda) and check hazel -Vezel customers are going through. Recall face by a US citizen and a Sri Lankan are not in the same situation. Why does a company need to charge from a Local Honda customer for the factory defect. Do you still in the opinion that brand new car buyers should be ready for recalls(like they bought experimental vehicles). Please see how many brand new vehicles brought to Sri Lanka face the recall problems, calculate percentage for brands and see where Vezel stands. Sorry if I sounds bit rude. I would agree with you if you can find 10 buyers in the past who had to check Chsy/Eng numbers in the net to see the vehicle purchased is safe to drive after purchasing brand new vehicles.

  • Harsha  commented on  10/24/14 11:02pm

Duminda, lot of people say have to do it in 1500. I’ve got mine done around 1600. Oil to be use is Toyota non-synthetic 0w20 (something closer to this no.)

  • Ranfer  commented on  10/25/14 11:29am

I too have a Vezel. When I contacted Stafford they told me that the oil change can be done at 5000 km.
I spoke to one of their workshop engineers. He said that all the engines are seasoned before sending out.

Hi guys, im planning to get a new hybride car. Could anyone please tell me which one is the best option whether aqua or honda fit gp5?

  • DDB  commented on  10/23/14 6:21am

    Dear Admin,

Hybridsrilanka is a great place to share and find information about hybrid vehicles used in Sri Lanka. I would like to thank you for hosting this forum.

To improve the usability of this forum I would like to suggest to have more break down for vehicle categories. For example rather than categorizing as Toyota, Honda hybrid vehicles it would be more helpful if categorize as Prius, Aqua, FIT GP!, FIT GP5 etc. I hope you got my point.

    Thank you.

Dear fellow members, Please help me to iron out this issue.

I want to know the different grades in Honda Fit GP1 and the options available for each grade., Recently got a GP1 which was told be a smart selection 10th anniversary one.

However i found out that it doesn’t have traction control.,

Further i don’t know whether it comes with auto headlights and rains sensor wipers….

The knobs shows that it has rain sensor wipers but it doesn’t work until i switch it on. Further, i have seen additional 2/3 buttons near the Eco mode button (below the steering wheel in on to your right side) in other GP1s, but in mine there is only the Econ button there. please guys help me out.

sorry if i’m asking a outdated question. Thanks

  • Natali  commented on  10/21/14 11:34pm

i too have the same problem.

  • Regi  commented on  10/22/14 2:39pm

Grades of GP1 differ from year to year
As per my knowledge following grades are there for each year
For example for year 2011, Base grade, Smart selection and Navi premium selection.
For 2012 Base grade, Smart selection, She’s and XH selection
For 2013 in addition to 2012 grades you have a base grade fine style, ,smart selection fine style, She’s fine style and XH selection fine style as limited edition grades.
Options differ from grade to grade in the form of dual multifunction, intelligent key, seat heaters, half leather seats fog lights, 3 head rest in the back, factory fitted original Honda Alloy wheels, lighting, cool box, paddle shifters, HID lights etc.
Additional buttons may include for vehicle stability assist, head light adjust.

Why there is a fuel efficacy difference between Honda Fit GP5 L package and S Package? Can someone explain this. Thank you.

  • Naresh  commented on  10/21/14 9:37pm

I do use a S Package. Only reason that I can think of is that S package comes with 16″ alloy wheels whereas L Package comes with 15″ normal wheels.

  • Yasith Mayabandara  commented on  10/21/14 9:46pm

Dear Wanigasinghe, It is due to the slight weight difference between L and S.
(Also if you use paddle shift, it increases fuel consumption)

  • Naresh  commented on  10/21/14 10:46pm

Hi Yasith, What is the wight difference between L and S? As far as I know its about 10kg. am I right?

  • Yasith Mayabandara  commented on  10/23/14 3:51pm

    You are correct Naresh

  • Naresh  commented on  10/23/14 11:36pm

Hi, Could anyone tell how often do you need to check on the Hybrid battery? Is it advisable to check it every time you service the car? Do you need to plug it into the diagnostics tool and check?

  • shehan36  commented on  10/23/14 10:54am

Its is better to check the Battery in every service you do. Now the service is 6months time lapse so it is better to do the scan.
Hybrid Charges only 900/- for the scan during servicing. Its not much of a cost.
Yes there is slot where you have to plug the scanner.

  • Sup 01  commented on  10/23/14 1:38pm

Thank you for the advice. Assume this scan charge is at Hybrid Motors and how much dose Hybrid motors charge for a regular service with oil and filter change?

  • Shehan Mendis  commented on  10/20/14 4:19pm

You do not have to necessarily service the car in the first 1000km. Actually if you want to play safe suggest to do so SO that you know you have done the oil change and you know when to do the next oil change as well… Its better to know your condition of the car by putting it for a service.
May be you should check the oil condition.

  • Hasitha Madhawa  commented on  10/20/14 6:49am

I am planning to buy a Honda FIT GP5 2014 L Grade. Please guide me which package save more fuel economy? Is it “L Package” or “S package”? When Toyota Prius Hybrid Battery Life fail it causes the car to stop. What’s the case in Honda FIT GP5? Will the Honda FIT GP5 also stop when the battery fail? I have also seen a normal battery in front engine in Honda FIT GP5 why two batteries?

  • Yasith Mayabandara  commented on  10/20/14 10:25pm

Dear Hasitha, The most fuel efficient is L package according to Honda specifications.

I did not understood the word “Battery Life Fail”. Did you mean complete failure of the battery or just about a discharged battery?
If the high voltage battery is discharged and it is otherwise normal, still you can start the car. But you may not be able to drive it depending the remaining charge of the battery. The “Ready to Drive” indicator does not comes on. At this point, the high voltage battery is charged by the engine. After it has charged to a certain point, you can drive the car as usual.

There are two batteries in all hybrid systems. One is the battery that operates the electrical component of the system and the other one is a simple 12v battery that supply power to the other electrical systems of the vehicle.

    Thank You

  • DDB  commented on  10/21/14 1:52am

Fuel economy is good in L package than S package. However when compared to other features you get with it may be possible to neglect the small drowback in fuel economy of S package.

If its a hybrid car, battery and hybrid system is part of the engine and unless you do a major hack, it will require both engine and the motor+battery for normal operation, no matter Prius or Fit. If you do regular services, in most of the cases you will be able to find out condition of the hybrid battery and you will find out when you need a battery replacement way befor a complete failure.

The normal 12v battery is there for all the electricity requirements like signal lights, Head lights, wiper motors, Security systems, EPS etc.

Hi, Mine is a GP2 fit Shuttle 2012. In extreme traffic conditions the fuel milage I get is 12-13 per ltr. Is it normal or can it do more. When going on High way it does about 22 KMPL during normal city drive it does about 15-18 KMPL. Please let me know if I need to get my car checked or is it normal

Also on shorter runs in traffic it does less than 10 kmpl

  • RD  commented on  10/18/14 8:03am

I think this is normal. My FD3 has the same figures and I think the cars share a lot of common attributes such as weight, engine capacity and IMA system.

Even though it says it does when you look at that bar chart from the time you start your car, you can see it varies depending on where you are driving to. In any-case this is normal mine does from 12-18 too depending.. Don’t worry its like that.. You just have to try and drive efficiently if you want to save petrol.. and mines a GP5. I think Toyota vehicles does a bit more but this should not be the reason to change vehicles. I love my Honda tis so cool! Have a good day.

In GP5, the cruise controls works in a range of 30 – 100 km/h as mentioned in the user manual. And it is automatically off at 25 km/h. It is a safety measure to limit the active speed. Just a kind advice, don’t exceed speed limits of roads for your own safety

Honda Fit GP5 / Vezel Recalls

Dear All, Do you aware that Honda Fit GP5 has been called back four times for upgrades up to now and Honda Vezel has two?

Here is the link to Honda Japan recall information page. You can use Google Chrome browser to translate this automatically.

    http://www.honda.co.jp/recall/

So, how do you know that your vehicle has undergone those upgrades or not?

    There are two ways,

    1. A sticker containing the recall number is pasted in to the driver’s seat door opening

    2. By entering your vehicles’ chassis number in to the following page
    http://recallsearch4.honda.co.jp/sqs/r001/R00101.do?fn=link.disp

These are done free of charge in japan including the labour cost and parts replacement if necessary. Ideally, this should be performed through local agent for imported vehicles but i am not sure Stafford Motors as they are not importing this models up to now. If you have any experience regarding this upgrades in Sri Lanka, please share it with us.

    Thank You

I’m experiencing exact symptoms explained in the link you have shared and mines chassis number in the required list.

Do you know whether stafford mortos do this latest software upgrade? By the way this is incredibly valuable information!

    Thanks.

Hi DDB, Is Stafford Motors charging for this upgrade or are they doing it for free?

Dear DDB, Thank you for the information. Good to hear that Stafford Motors are doing the upgrades. I am not sure they are doing the latest upgrade but that should be available because the recall is in July 2014.

    Thank You.

  • DDB  commented on  10/15/14 11:11pm

Stafford mortors charged about 5600/= for upgrade and you have to put an appointment reserve a time slot. The upgrade took somewhere around 2 hrs to complete.

Hi guys I’m getting my Honda fit gp5 2014 bnew s grade next week. What’s the fuel consumption in the city and out station? Do I have to do a service when I reach 1000kms?

  • Shehan Mendis  commented on  10/9/14 4:13pm

GP5 is using Honda New iDCD technology. It should do about 18 – 20KMPL range within colombo and 24-25KMPL outstation. But everything depends on how you drive it.
Well you dont have to service at 1000km. You must check the grade and condition of the oil.
Just take the car to Hybrid Motors they will check the oil condition and let you know. They dont charge for it.

  • DDB  commented on  10/9/14 11:26pm

Hi, recently I puchased a 2013 GP5 and so far drove more than 1000km. Normally I drive from Kelaniya to Nawala in morning and evening city traffic. The maximum fuel economy I achived while driving in city traffic was 18KM/L. The maximum fuel economy achived while off city traffic driving was 25KM/L. That is a round trip to Kandy with 4 people onbord.

  • Yasith Mayabandara  commented on  10/13/14 10:05pm

    Dear DDB,

Can you explain more about your driving condition please?

Is this figures with ECON Mode?
What is the fuel you used?
    What is the A/C temperature?
Have you got this fuel consumption values through the information display?

I also owns a 2013 GP5 and i have achieved far better results in sub-urban driving.

    Thank You

  • DDB  commented on  10/14/14 1:22am

Hi Yasith, Please see my answeres.

Is this figures with ECON Mode? Yes
What is the fuel you used? 95 Octane
What is the A/C temperature? 25-27
Have you got this fuel consumption values through the information display? Yes. For city driving I got confirmed this value with manual calculations. I’m still running with my second full tank. Will update results once that burns out.

So how is fuel economy of your GP5? Is it F,L or S grade?

    Thanks.

  • Yasith Mayabandara  commented on  10/14/14 10:31am

    Dear DDB,

Thank you for answering back. I owns a L Grade with Safty and Navi package.

I am still burning my first tank of 95 octane petrol with A/C at 26 C and Econ ON.

As i mentioned before, i am driving in sub-urban areas with less traffic than colombo area.

I got my reading through the information display and it was above 30 (34.6 once!) for several times. And it was always above 25 so far.

You may reset the fuel consumption values to get more acurate calculation of the current fuel consumption. And you may already aware that the driving style also affects the fuel consumption mainly as discussed in this forum several times.

I will let you know my manual calculations as soon as i finish out my fuel.

    Thank You.

  • Buddhi  commented on  10/16/14 7:50pm

Since you guys talked about the Fuel Type….. I’ll ask my question here. Can we use 92 Octane?

  • DDB  commented on  10/20/14 12:43am

Hi, With some careful driving I was able to achieve 31km/L from Kelaniya to Nittambuwa (about 35km) and 33.7km/L on highway with my GP5. This is with 92 octane.

  • Yasith Mayabandara  commented on  10/22/14 3:19pm

DDB, Yes, you can achieve such fuel economy with careful driving and long trips usually above 15 kilometers.

    Buddhi,
Yes, we can use 92 Octane ( Owner manual specification – Fuel Type -> Unleaded regular gasoline / Regular bio-blended gasoline(E10 / ETBE22))

    Thank You

You cannot change the language which is on the meter. The black and white display on the meter.

You may be able to change the Video setup language. Try showing it to Hybrid Motors Lanka because there is a foreign gentlemen there. He may be able to help.

  • Shehan Mendis  commented on  10/9/14 4:36pm

It is better to replace the genuine honda. Reason is the air intake is purified by the filter. That AIR is combined with the fuel so it may affect the injectors and engine in the long run

  • NalinJ  commented on  10/1/14 10:15am

I think you should not use maintenance free batteries for Hybrids, Some says deep cycle batteries should be used for Hybrids but my GP1 has 30 Ah normal lead-acid battery (which came with the car) and it works without a problem.
Is this Ameron battery is a maintenance free battery?

Any solution to change the language in honda vehicles? (mine is a gp1)

  • Shehan Mendis  commented on  10/9/14 4:39pm

Make sure you replace a SUPER MAINTENANCE FREE BATTERY. This is a fully sealed type battery and has two indicators showing if the battery weak or strong.
Have they checked the fuse? The 12V battery is charged through the Hybrid BIG battery.

It doesnt matter the brand, the type should always matter. It should be NS40L if I am not mistaken. But take it to a reputed place and replace a SMF appropriate type battery.

Hi I am intending to buy a HONDA FD3 2010 model. I have been getting some negative feedback on the car specially on the battery and fuel consumption (only 10km per ltr) is it true. Also what would be market value for the car

  • RD  commented on  10/4/14 6:25am

Im using a 2011 Fd3. Fuel consumption is around 13-14kmpl city moderate traffic. 18kmpl long distance and 22kmpl highway. It would be 10kmpl on extreme stop and go city traffic. Its a nice car. Chech hybrid battery health before buying.

  • Shehan Mendis  commented on  10/9/14 4:56pm

Mr. Safwan please do not buy FD3. The car has a Hybrid Battery failure. It will bring you so much trouble. even if you buy a recon. unreg CIVIC it would still have a battery failure. This is a HONDA MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
I got the best example from Hybrid Motors Lanka. A gentlemen’s vehicle had an issue with his Hybrid Battery and he eventually change a B.new battery from them for around 800k

So Dont go for the HONDA CIVIC. Play Safe

  • RD  commented on  10/14/14 10:25pm

@Shehan Mendis Dont spread misinformation. I am driving a 2011 Civic Hybrid without any battery issues. The battery issues on the FD3 were addressed through a software update post 2009 models. And the issues arise if you have the car parked for long times and dont run it often. When you buy the vehicle, just make sure the IMA battery usable capacity is above at least 35% (this should be done when buying any Honda hybrid, not just the Civic) and you should be fine.
Also a new battery costs rs 550000 not 800000.

  • Shehan Mendis  commented on  10/9/14 5:04pm

This is the original setup that comes with the vehicle. Yes it is configured to the vehicle in-entertainment system.
I must say you cannot change the language because these are domestic market vehicle. This vehicle is sold ONLY in JAPAN.

One thing you can do is check it with a person who can read the language. There is a japanese gentlemen in Hybrid Motors Lanka at Maligawatte. He will try to change the language and they do not charge for that.

Actually if you service the vehicle he will give you a full demo on how to set up bluetooth, take calls and use some other features such as storing music to your setup. the language will remain the same though. He may try to change the language.

Is it ok to mix blue color coolant and green color coolant and have you guys replaced the coolant came with your FIT or Insight with the green color coolant available in SL

  • RD  commented on  9/24/14 11:47am

What does your service manual say about the coolant? Always use something that meets requirements in the service manual.
I use blue coolant on my car (Civic FD3 hybrid). My service manual instructs to use a coolant that does not contain silicates. If you use a coolant with silicates it would cause the washer pump to rust over time and you’ll face issues.
There are blue coolants available in Sri lanka. I recently flushed mine using Toyota blue coolant which cost Rs 8000 or so for 4L.

  • arun  commented on  9/26/14 11:25am

don’t mix coolant. use toyota blue coolant, thats what Stafford motors do.

  • Charitha Ekanatake  commented on  10/2/14 11:07am

Don’t get carried a way with coolant colours. Honda cool blue coolant have a life up to 80 000 km. If it’s need refilling check for any coolant leaks. If not fill with clean or distill water. DO NOT USE BATTERY WATER.

    “S” Means Sports

Basic difference is that, S package contains Paddle Shift, Fog Lights and Alloy wheels as standard. Also there are few extra cosmetic differences.

Mind you that S package consumes more fuel than other grades according to the specifications given in Japanese site.

Hi, Can any one advice me on how to replace the 12V battery? Can I take it to any battery dealer and replace it or do I need to take it to the agent?

  • varuna  commented on  9/11/14 4:53pm

Better check the 12V battery condition before replacing, any battery dealer can check this. Did anyone advice you to change ? Any battery dealer can change the 12V battery, but should not disconnect the battery power before removing. Should give parallel power and remove 12V battery.

  • jk  commented on  9/17/14 11:48pm

And make sure that you replace with a deep cycle battery, not the normal car battery

Hi Guys, I have removed my 12v battery to help out a friend, but when I replaced it back GP1 Gathers player asking the pass code. I have tried every method in the internet retrieve it and finally called Stafford. But they said they can not provide it because they don’t have the DB. So then I called the Honda Mother company and explained the situation, but they said I have to contact the local agent for this. My question is do you guys know any alternative solution for this?
    Thanks

Hi all, I am new to here and observed this is a wonderful meeting place. Lot of views, knowledge and experience is shared here, Thanks for all.

I have bought a Vezel (RU3 Z). This is my first Honda and first Hybrid.
In the Vezel, the Dash displays are all in Japanese, and cannot understand anything.
I have noticed features similar to what are displayed in Vezel in other models like Fit. Perhaps either Fit or any similar model could have such displays in English.
Can anybody help me to get the closest English Translations of these Japanese words.
If available in the web, share the web address would do.

The DVD player did not come with the car. I was told that the player is removed at some car sales. What is the best place to buy a suitable DVD player with a navigator?

  • Duthindara  commented on  8/30/14 9:43pm

Tty to buy your DVD player, from Petco Lanka, Bara Electronics, Gilbert and Co. and Advance Car Audio. Those are the most reputed and famous.

  • Harsha  commented on  9/7/14 9:13pm

I’ve got a vezel too. I got the dvd player + navigation done by onara at wijerama. Professional work and all in good order for a resonable price.. Do you know how to change the dashboard time cos it’s the jap time being displayed.

  • MR Fernando  commented on  9/9/14 7:44pm

    Thanks

  • Rukshan  commented on  9/10/14 9:43am

As far as I know, you can’t change the language in Japanese domestic models. The best option I found was to use an app (on any smart phone/tablet) to convert the text to english. You just have to point the camera of the phone/tablet to Japanese text.
Regarding the navigation, you may contact Sala enterprizes if you desperately want to integrate a set up with a navigator with local language support. They integrate their navigator to some DVD setups – but not for Japanese set ups which comes with some cars. Last time when I checked (in June 2014) they charged 26k LKR. Anyway, navigation is a nice to have feature. Even though a smart phone/tablet can do the same, most apps I’ve tried are not updated to turn by turn navigation on Sri Lankan roads. According to Sala web site they’ve put quite a good effort to to overlay the map with local roads/places.

    Hope this helps.

  • Janaka  commented on  9/17/14 11:58pm

Actually if you really need navigation there are other options too. Pioneer has new range of setups which directly replicate the touch screen of your iOS or Android phone on the player screen for compatible phone apps. I did some home work in this area when I bought my last Pioneer setup but skipped it because of the cost. That was about 2 years back. Perhaps now the prices have come down.

    Here is an example
    http://www.pioneer.com.sg/storefront4/ProductDetail/default.asp?ProductId=1378&CatId=2,23,28

  • MR Fernando  commented on  9/25/14 11:11pm

I was told that both Pioneer and Kenwood sets are good. Both Sala and City Guide Navigator Units can be installed in these two sets. But the issue is that you cannot save the Favourite Map Locations in these sets. Favourite locations will get saved in the RAM of these sets and if for any reason the battery power is disconnected, the RAM will get erased along with the Favourites.

    Regarding a GP5 dash board.
There are two buttons below the ECON button towards the right hand side of steering wheel. One is with slippery road mark, which I believe is for traction control.
Pls let me know what is the purpose of the other button?
(The button symbol is…… few waives in front of a car!)

  • Yasith Mayabandara  commented on  8/31/14 12:00am

    Dear Buddhi,

    1. The icon with slippery road mark indicates “Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA)” On – Off button. It controls,
    a. ABS (Anti-locking Brake System)
    b. Traction Control System (TCS)
    c. Side Slip / Skid Suppression System &
    d. Electronic control brake assist system

    2. The other button you mentioned as ” few waives in front of a car” is the ” Vehicle Approaching Reporting Device” On – Off button.

Though we think the sound comes from an internal combustion engine as an annoying sound some times, it prevents most road traffic accidents by alerting the pedestrians and animals about the danger coming from behind.

But in most of the hybrid vehicles are designed to turn off their engine and to run on their electric motor at very low speeds without acceleration (In GP5, it happens at =< 20 kmph) . This mode is known as "EV – Electric Vehicle" mode. In this moment, theoretically no sound will generate from the vehicle that will prone to increase the risk of accidents because the pedestrians wont notice the vehicle coming from behind.

To overcome this problem vehicle manufacturers developed an electronic device that produce a sound similar to the engine noise. Honda named this device as "Vehicle Approaching Reporting Device". You can turn this device On-Off by the button mentioned above. Best practice is to keep this device On all the time. Though you turn off the device once, it automatically turns On when the car restarts.

Hope this information will help you to resolve your problem and looking forward to help all of you according to my knowledge.

    Thank You.

  • Lakshitha  commented on  9/1/14 11:30am

Dear Yasith, Thanks for your details explanation about EV. Pls note that I have GP5 & when car stops in trafic it’s not turn on to EV mode. is it an issue?

  • Buddhi  commented on  9/1/14 7:25pm

Thanks Yasith for the detailed reply. I was almost started converting the manual using G-Translator seeking an answer. Thanks again.

Just to clarify.so how is this sound made. is there a speaker or ?
Now i understand why few dogs was annoying with the approach of the car!
BTW is it ON when the switch light is ON?

    Thank you.

  • Yasith Mayabandara  commented on  9/2/14 7:39am

    Dear Lakshitha,

Thanks for your comment. Before answering to your question, can you please clarify the following?

    1. Does the EV indicator turns ON in other running conditions?
    2. Does the car changes to EV mode when start to move after stopping at traffic?
    3. Are you using a device that uses lot of electricity? (like High-end audio)
    4. Have you aware about the “Engine Auto Stop” function?

    Thank You

  • Yasith Mayabandara  commented on  9/2/14 7:50am

    Dear Buddhi,

Thank you for your comment. I also found the information that ia specific to Honda Fit GP5 by converting the japanese manual.

The common technology of this device is to use a speaker to produce the sound.

The button turns OFF the device as the default operation status of the device is ON. When the light comes ON, that means the device is OFF.

  • Buddhi  commented on  9/2/14 7:46pm

    Lakshitha,

    While answering Yasith’s question, have you tried following;

Stop the car at home as you were in traffic (I mean with power on… break peddle pressed and gear on D) and stay on bit longer.
Then the EV should comeback after some time!
I guess the combustion engine is running in order for H-battery to be charged.
At least this is what I experienced.

Pls do answer Yasith’s questions. Interested in seeing his reply.

    Thank you.

  • Buddhi  commented on  9/2/14 8:04pm

Thanks again Yasith for the reply. will comeback with more!

Hi, Mine is a FIT Shuttle YOM 2012. In traffic my IMA battery goes down very fast. When in stationary position for more than 5-10 mins. This is with the AC, radio, fog lamps and head lamps on.

The average millage I get in city is 12-13 KMPL outstation drive on highway about 22-24 KMPL

Do I need to get my IMS Battery checked or is there any remedy I can do for this.

  • nalinjawa  commented on  8/26/14 7:13pm

It is better to check your 12V battery first. If the 12V battery is week, then IMA battery charge the 12V battery frequently. Hence the charge is dropped in IMA battery quickly.
Also check the air filter and cabin air filter, if these filters are clogged, you need to change them

  • Nalin  commented on  8/20/14 12:10pm

Guys, have anyone purchased a spare wheel to your FIT. The puncture repair kit provided by Honda is good but in Sri Lanka we have to use some concrete roads and gravel roads often. I had a cut in a tire in my previous car and it was not possible to repair the tire. Fortunately I had the spare wheel. So I’m planning to buy a spare wheel (small spare wheels similar to one had in my previous car) and carry it in long distance trips. I tried to find a spare wheel in Kandy area but still unable to find a wheel

  • Niroshan Fonseka  commented on  8/21/14 2:10pm

Hi, You are absolutely correct that we should keep a spare wheel to avoid some issues which we face on tyre punch. there have no any place to buy this small spare wheel. Even there haven’t any tyres to replace if this small spare wheel got damage.
I also keep my previous car spare wheel with me when I sell that one. As I know this will useful when I plan to buy hybrid car. Check with ikman.lk & u will able to find something.

  • Janaka  commented on  9/18/14 1:46am

Your best bet would be a repair shop or a tyre shop. Some users change the small yellow wheel for a normal rim + tyre as spare wheel. I found one of those yellow spare wheels through a known person (which fitted nicely in to my GE6 as GE6 has the spare wheel enclosure in the body covered with a foam insert. I had to cut the form insert to fit the tyre in).

I have a Honda civic. I have been using it for the past 3 years. recently I found a drag in the engine while starting the car. The IMA battery runs down fast while in traffic, however when the car is run on 3000rpm it charges and after a while the IMA battery light goes off.
I get good mileage on outstation running, 19- 20 km per liter.
is my battery going bad. if so how could I purchase one.

Hi All, Planning to buy a Honda fit GP5, i am in kurunegala, is there service places available in kurunegala for honda. Also can anyone advice on how to buy a genuine car in a car sale. Some people are saying sales have accident cars repaired cant even find a difference. Any expert advices on this. Whats the normal price for S grade or L grade for this car.

  • Nalin  commented on  8/20/14 12:01pm

You can try New Jayasekara Motors in Kurunegala and I think they are the authorized service place for Honda. It is really difficult to check whether it is a genuine or accident repaired car in a car sale. Nowadays those people can do anything and make the car looks like a brand new. If you are lucky you will find a good one.

  • Namal  commented on  8/14/14 1:35pm

I m going to buy FIT GP1. Is there any petrol called Euro 3. Is it better than 95 octane. What is the different between these two types of petrol. Please explain.

  • Nalin  commented on  8/15/14 2:32pm

Yes there is. It is with IOC and it seems 93 Octane. I use normal 92 octane fuel and it gives 18-19 in City and 22-28 in long distance, I remember user manual says use 90 octane and if you do not have 90 octane use a fuel with lower octane but Euro 3 petrol may be cleaner than normal 92 octane but who knows what they give saying Euro 3 because this is Sri Lanka

  • shan  commented on  8/18/14 8:33am

  • Niroshan Fonseka  commented on  8/19/14 2:18pm

Hi, Nothing different using 92,95 or Euro 3 petrol.
It gives same result. but I have personal experience with using catalyzer together with fuel (soltron is the brand name).

When I fill the full tank I used to pump 40ml of Soltron and I can drive min 550-600km if i use this catalyzer together with fuel.. This is only my personal experience.

Hi, I bought a Honda fit GP1 10th anniversary manufactured in 2012. My main problem is low fuel consumption. I checked several times and found that average milage in town and outstation is around 11-12 km/liter. I have never gone above this average.

Everyone say that it’s a low milage. Now I’m thinking whether my car has some problems. May be in the battery.
Can anybody advise me that how can I get the car back to normal and is this situation is normal or not?
Is there any expert places to detect the courses to my problem?

    Thank you

  • Nalin  commented on  8/13/14 7:02pm

1.Have you reset the average fuel consumption to zero and checked?
2.Pump full tank and go around 100 km, then fill the tank full and calculate the fuel consumption. It is the correct one. (remember to tell the guy in fuel shed to stop filling once the pumping machine stops automatically).
    3. Have you replaced Air filter and Cabin air filter. If these filters are clogged, it will affect the fuel economy also

  • Kalana S Meneripitiya  commented on  8/19/14 3:49pm

Hi, It seems you have received some good advice. Thought of sharing my experience in driving Honda Hybrid system. try it n if effective u will be a winner too. Honda IMA Hybrid system is different from Toyota Synergy drive and it does not help you to fuel even though you drive slowly like in Prius do. Hence if you try resetting your mileage counter

1.start fresh, try to drive with a consistence rather adding top pressure on accelerator and frequent quick braking dont keep a small gap with the vehicle ahead and try to drive with focusing on the longer traffic ahead of you. This way you will decide how to drive better and fuel efficiently.

    2. you may be able to monitor your quality of driving with the number of flowers offered to you on monitoring screen.

    3. Do not follow Private busses.. its a waste of everything. Honda IMA Supports acceleration well, hence you can maintain an average value of speed of between 30-50 or 60kmph at any traffic which makes it a more conveninent car ahead any of Hybrids in the market.

    4. I my experience I drive from Wattala to Rajagiriya daily up & down in city traffic totaling to 40-50km per day with an average fuel consumption of 18-19km/l and sometimes 20-21 km/l on morning traffic.
